VIRTUAL Studio Classes

Virtual Studio Classes  – Drawing on nearly 30 years of BAX Youth Education, our Virtual Studio Classes foster creativity, encourage exploration, and provide a positive and nurturing environment all from the comfort of your own home! Learn More

Performance Workshops – Our progression of dance, theater and tumbling classes culminate in a series of truly exceptional programs for our most motivated senior students (ages 9-18). These programs offer young artists opportunities to deepen their practice as performers, creators and collaborators in their chosen discipline and, uniquely, develop and direct original work for performance. General notes for Winter 2021 classes:

  • All classes in the Winter 2021 term will take place live (synchronously) over Zoom, with additional asynchronous enrichment (such as weekly class outlines, playlists, creative prompts to build on class experiences, and ways for students to share photos and videos with their teacher) provided through Google Sites.
  • Some teachers may elect to schedule class “field trips” to meet up and have that week’s class in Prospect Park (or other outdoor locations nearby BAX). Families will be notified of any field trip dates during the first class or soon thereafter. A general permission form will be required for families/students who choose to participate, in which appropriate health precautions such as masks, social distancing, etc. will be outlined and required. If a student is not able to attend the field trip class, BAX will make accommodations to record or livestream that class, or offer an alternative enrichment option or make-up class.
  • Most classes will require at least 5 students enroll in order to run, and most classes will be capped at 10 students to ensure an optimal teacher to student ratio. BAX will be in communication to families with relevant enrollment updates.

VIRTUAL Summer Arts Experience

VSAP Experience provides young artists with opportunities to explore different forms of visual art and performing arts through two imaginative themes: “Shadows, Shapes, Objects” and “Giving, Growing, Greening”. Taught by beloved BAX faculty, VSAP Experience consists of pre-recorded workshop videos in our signature School Breaks Arts Program disciplines of Dance/Movement, Theater/Circus, Tumbling/AcroDance, Visual/Mixed Media Arts, and Music/Instrument. VIRTUAL Community Engagement

ASPU Hang Out We’ll bring the games, you bring the snacks!
We miss you! And even if we can’t be together in person, we can still play games together. Join us for an After School Pick Up Zoom hang out on Monday, May 18th from 2:30-3:00pm as part of our “Virtual Community Engagement” series.
All 2020 spring semester ASPU students (and their families!) are invited to gather around for some snacks and classic ASPU fun. You bring the snacks and we’ll bring some favorite activities like BAX-themed Mad Libs, special coloring pages, and collaborative word searches.
Please RSVP to Ashley (ashley@bax.org) and let us know if you can make it.

House Party/Dance Party BAX Spring Semester families are invited to join BAX Staff and Drama Rama & Drag Faculty Member, Kelindah Schuster, for a fun “House Party/Dance Party” event on Wednesday, May 20 from 2:30-3 p.m., as part of the Education Department’s Virtual Community Engagement Series. No amount of distance can keep us from dancing! Let’s groove our way into the afternoon together while listening to some house beats! Look out for an email invitation from Ashley with the Zoom link and join us.
