Please note: If you are registering for 5+ days within the same school break arts program and are therefore eligible for the “family value” discount, the online platform will automatically register this discount in your session. If, however, you register for additional days in a separate online session bringing your total registration to “5+ days”, the online platform cannot automatically combine this new registration with your other registrations. In such instances, to make sure that you do receive the full discount that you are eligible for please call (718) 832-0018 and complete your registration over the phone. Alternatively, you can continue with the online registration process and the discount will automatically be credited to your account, towards either a balance due or towards future use.

About President’s Week and Spring Break Arts Specialties

Each day the NanoBAXers (Kindergarten- 2nd grade) and Mega/Giga BAXers (2nd- 5th grade) engage in daily exploratory themes through various arts specialties. Each morning, there is a workshop facilitated by a guest performing arts specialist. During the afternoon, there is a second workshop facilitated by a visual arts specialist, followed by an informal community share between the groups.

Visual Art

Young artists use their imaginations to explore various arts media projects that go beyond ordinary arts-and-crafts, creating a whirlwind of individual and group paintings, sculptures, collages, and drawings that engage different themes and reflect their view of the world.

Theater

BAX theater workshops encourage dynamic theater artists through visceral experiences engaging voices, bodies, and imaginations. Young actors will cultivate technical skills while working collaboratively through improvisational theater games and embodied storytelling.

Circus

Drawing on contemporary circus traditions, young artists will practice the art of storytelling through physical theater, partner acrobatics, animating objects, and character and caricature exploration. Participants work independently and collaboratively to establish their own fun and unique circus performance style.

Tumbling

Tumbling at BAX integrates movement from yoga, modern dance, gymnastics, and partner acrobatics to explore creative expression through inverted movement. Tumblers learn fundamental tumbling skills that help to increase their flexibility, balance, and awareness of space, shape and form.

Dance

In lively and action packed dance sessions, young movers use their bodies and imaginations to create their own movement and explore a variety of dance traditions that include modern, hip hop, ballet, acro, and more.

Families can register by day or for the full week and are assigned to one of two groups: the NanoBAXers (Kindergarten- 2nd grade) or the Mega/Giga BAXers (2nd- 5th grade). Each group has up to 30 children and is staffed by one Group Leader, one Senior Counselor, and two Junior Counselors.
