Financial Aid

We are deeply committed to offering financial assistance for all of our education programs. No student is turned away based on the inability to pay. Approximately 20% of the student population receives some level of financial assistance.

General Financial Assistance

Families interested in financial assistance may download an application form from the website. Parents are asked to state what they can afford to pay and simply explain their circumstances. You must re-apply before the beginning of each term, with the exception of Dance Performance Workshop, BAXco and AcroBAX students who apply annually. Families receiving financial assistance are asked to volunteer for projects and special events from time to time.

Full Financial Assistance

Established to honor the memory of Dani Nikas, a former director of our Young Peoples Performing Workshop (now named the Dance Performance Workshop), the Dani Nikas Fund for the Development of Young Artists supports those committed to the study and exploration of dance and theater and who are presently in financial need. Dani inspired her student’s imagination, trust and passion for the arts and challenged them to move forward in ways they didn’t think were possible. Her love of the performing arts was passed through to anyone who took her class.

If you would like to apply for full financial assistance through the Dani Nikas Fund for the Development of Young Artists please fill out our regular financial aid form and with it include a thoughtful, detailed letter that clearly addresses the following information:

  • Reasons for full assistance at this time (income, dependents, medical bills, etc.)
  • Your child’s interest in the performing arts
  • Why BAX?
  • Commitment to the class(es) that your child is planning to take (attendance, participation, etc.)
  • How BAX fits in with your life and other extracurricular activities

Please note that the number of full financial assistance awarded each year does vary depending on funding. Please submit all your materials together when registering for classes at the beginning of the trimester as usual. You will be contacted in regard to the status of your application within 10 days of your submission.

Please feel free to contact Joie Golomb, Education Manager, at Joie@bax.org or 718.832.0018 with any questions.
