| 3:30-4:45 | Modern II
Modern II Using a foundation in integrated movement (dancing with the whole body), Modern II students begin to learn more formal dance technique. Rhythm and musicality begin to come into play as students explore music in dance through solo, duet, and group pieces. Modern III A class for more experienced dance students, Modern III serves as a survey course of different kinds of dance. Units covered include modern dance technique, ballet, rhythmic dance, dance history, acrobatic dance, swing dance and dance composition. Techniques emphasized in Modern III include dance positions, leg and foot work, centering, balance, strength, stretch, and alignment, well as an exploration of multi-dimensional space. Students also learn improvisational technique and how to analyze and describe movement. Gina Kohler Gina is a Brooklyn based independent choreographer, teacher and yoga instructor. She continues to share her work internationally and throughout New York City and is passionately developing her current project, dream [factories] both a live art event and book in the making. Gina is an interdisciplinary artist and continues to imagine the endless capacity for dance making thru multiple mediums. Her choreography has been presented at the Dance/NOW RAW, The Flea, Movement Research, and Danspace Project. She self produced her first full length concert at Triskelion Arts in January 2011.
